Ouray Ice Festival


Every year in the middle of January the small town of Ouray in the heart of Rocky Mountains, Colorado, hosts the meeting of the best ice climbers in the world known as Ouray Ice Festival. This year's special guests included JC Lafaille, Ed Viesturs as well as some of the legends of alpine climbing as Jim Donini, Jack Tackle, Tomaz Humar etc. In three days there were events like slideshows and film presentations of world class alpinists, clinincs for the beginners in ice climbing, and of course the competition, which was the main event at Ouray Ice Festival. With the third place in the race, Slovenian climber Aljaz Anderle showed the audience his climbing skills and great performance and was the first competitor at the race rewarded with ovations. After the Festival Aljaz went to Vail for a couple of days, climbing the Reptail, famous overhanging mixed route which used to be the hardest mixed route in the world not so long time ago.
