After our photographer lost his passport
and a big delay at Budapest airport the rest of our crew almost missed
the next plane from Istanbul to Tehran. Due to the circumstances we landed
pretty drunk, not a pleasant sight for Iranian customs officers. With
all our gear we boarded two taxis and were on our way to Bahram-`s (our
Persian guide) home. After buying hashish, a traditional lunch in a restaurant
in Tehranian suburbs and a lot of miscommunication with the taxi drivers
we arrived to Dizin, a sort of Persian St. Moritz. We changed our initial
plan of sleeping in tents for a night in a garage near a military antenna.
Not a very bright idea, as we discovered a couple of nights later when
we were arrested under suspicion of espionage and taken to Secret Military
Police HQ in Tehran. Upon intervention of Slovenian consul we were released
and were on the slopes again next day. Snow was good and an avalanche
provided an adrenalin fix for the next couple of days.

This time we slept at Farshad`s home, who was a
member of national skiing team. We were employed as national ski team
training advisors and almost became Farshad`s family members. During our
days in the village we met most of Iranian snow sports professionals with
whom we shared our experiences and enjoyed their immense hospitality.
Last day we were invited to Asian skiing championship but unfortunately
our time was running out and after unforgettable party we had to leave.
